International scientific journal Nicholai Studies is published both as a printed and as an online open access journal. Nicholai Studies primarily publishes original scientific papers on theological subjects. By cultivating an interdisciplinary approach, the journal is open for scientific papers and review articles based on research in other sciences and humanities — like philosophy, philology, literature, history, historiography, archival research etc. — as long as they correspond with the topic of the journal. Nicholai Studies also publishes relevant archival and documentary material, with accompanying studies and notes as well as bibliographies, shorter notes, reviews, comments and reviews of new publications. Nicholai Studies primarily publishes articles in English and Serbian language. Every article published in Nicholai Studies is reviewed two times and anonymously before being published (see Peer Reviewer Instructions).

The Editorial Board of the Nicholai Studies holds to very high ethical and academic standards in publication of scientific papers (see Ethical and Scientific Standards).

Authors have to submit their papers to the following e-mail address (Editorial Board of the Nicholai Studies): editor@nicholaistudies.org.

Authors should write their name and surname, the name of the institution where they work, mailing and email address, telephone number, a brief academic biography and several major bibliographic references.

Submission of a paper implies that the work has not been published before, that it is not under consideration for publication elsewhere, and that its publication has been approved by all co-authors, if any, as well.

In this regard, the author is obliged to submit a signed Authorship Statement to the Editorial Board confirming that the submitted article is the result of his own research, that it does not infringe the general copyrights or the copyrights of any other third party, that the rules of scientific methodology in terms of quoting others sources and citations are respected, and that the work is not published under that or any other title, or offered for publication in any other journal.

A scanned Authorship Statement shall be submitted to the Editorial Board by email.

The work should include:

1) Title;

2) Name, surname, affiliation and e-mail address of the author;

3) Summary (up to 5 lines) and keywords (up to 5 words);

4) Base body of the text;

5) A list of the cited literature in an alphabetical order.

The volume of the total text of the paper should be up to 50,000 characters.

Authors should submit their papers as a Microsoft Word 2003 document — in .doc or .rtf extension. The Word document is obligatory, and besides that, the paper could also, optionally, be delivered as Adobe Systems Inc. document in .pdf extension.

All the references should be formatted according to the Chicago Manual of Style, 16th edition or above (Chicago: Chicago University Press, 2010). In the last section of the paper, the author should provide listing of all works that she/he cited and referenced in the text of the paper in an alphabetical order.

Only papers that have been accepted and approved for publication at the end of the peer review process are published in the Nicholai Studies.

Nicholai Studies are published in two issues a year. The first issue is published in English in the first half of a year, and the second in English and Serbian in the second half of a year.

The first issue is concluded by November 15; December 15 is the deadline for authors to submit final versions of texts and eventual corrections; the preparation of the first issue for publishing ends at the beginning of January, and after that, the first issue is printed and published.

The second issue is concluded on May 15; June 15 is the deadline for authors to submit final versions of texts and eventual corrections; the preparation of the second issue for publishing ends at the beginning of July, and after that, the second issue is printed and published.

International scientific journal Nicholai Studies is an open-access journal, completely non-commercial (see Ethical and Scientific Standards), without article processing charges.

Nicholai Studies use Creative Commons CC BY–NC–ND license: this license allows reusers to copy and distribute the material in any medium or format in unadapted form only, for noncommercial purposes only, and only so long as attribution is given to the creator. CC BY–NC–ND includes the following elements: BY — credit must be given to the creator; NC — only noncommercial uses of the work are permitted; ND — no derivatives or adaptations of the work are permitted (see Creative Commons Attribution–NonCommercial–NoDerivatives4.0 International Public License).

International scientific journal Nicholai Studies allow authors to retain the copyright of their papers without restrictions.
